Slaughter and May Golden Boot Race set for grand finale
The race for the inaugural Slaughter and May Golden Boot award for the highest scorer in JCR 1st team League football stands as a three-way tie going into the last week of the season, and looks set to be decided on the final day itself.
The three hot-shots with 17 goals to their name, Charlie Hill, Luke Bennett and James Gingell, all play their football in Division 2, where goals are undoubtedly easier to come by, but scoring at more than a-goal-a-game at any level is no mean feat.
Of the three, Charlie Hill’s record is perhaps the most remarkable, as he has scored half of Trinity’s goals this season, with the team only picking up points in one match in which he failed to score.
Just behind the leaders, Ryan Taylor, who bagged a brace for the Colleges XI in Cambridge on Saturday, is the top scorer outside the bottom division with 14.
The leading Premier Division scorer is Wilfred Frost with 12 goals in 12 league matches, on top of which he has also scored 4 times during Teddy Hall’s run to the Cuppers final.
The eventual winner will be presented his trophy at the awards evening held early next term.
