Corpus to Decommission Sports Ground
26th January 2010 00:54 | by Jeremy LloydAs of March Corpus Christi's sports ground will be closed and the college's teams moved to a pitch share with Univ.
The Corpus groundsman Mike Clifton, a long serving and amiable gentleman, has been made redundant and been told to vacate his flat by March.
The Corpus fields, while remote, have provided some of the best playing surfaces in the university for many years - often remaining playable when many other colleges are postponing games.
The move to Univ may involve Corpus sports teams (including potentially football) dropping their loyalties to other colleges (including Linacre) in order to merge with Univ teams.
This decision was reached by Corpus's governing body with no consultation with the JCR and the reasons given for the move do not really bare scrutiny.
