OUAFC Old Boys Weekend and Race Night
5th February 2010 12:16 | by Cameron KnightOUAFC is ready to welcome back old faces from years gone by at the annual OUAFC Old Boys weekend which is being held this Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday the Centaurs will play a select Old Boys team in the Duncan Mulholland Memorial match which is being held at the Christ Church sportsgrounds and kicking off at 2pm. This game is played in the memory of Duncan Mulholland who captained the Centaurs to varsity victory in 2005 but who tragically died in the November of the same year due to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome. The Old Boys team will be made up of members of the 2005 varsity winning team. It is hoped that the match will be a very competitiive and enjoyable match against the current Centaurs team which will be befitting of Duncan's memory.
On Saturday evening OUAFC will be holding a race night at Vincents Club to raise money for the club and also for the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). It should be a fun evening full of the thrills and spills of a day at the races. The evening starts at 7 30pm and all are welcome to join us for this event.
Sunday afternoon will see the Blues take on the OOBC side which will be packed full of big names from down the years and will feature a number of ex-OUAFC captains. It will give the current Blues a chance to try some new ideas out before their cup match on Wednesday against Strathclyde University.
Everyone at the club is very excited about the weekend as it will be a great opportunity for current and ex-players to catch up and meet new faces whilst competing in what should be two competitive and testing fixtures.
